Amazon Seller Fee Calculator

This Amazon seller fee calculator covers the Amazon-side fees when you fulfill orders yourself: the category referral fee (8–20% of price plus any buyer-paid shipping) and the $0.99 per-item fee on the Individual plan. It uses the October 2026 fee schedule and leaves fulfillment, storage, and your shipping cost to you — which makes it the right tool for FBM sellers, hybrid FBA/FBM comparisons, and anyone sanity-checking what Amazon itself takes before logistics enter the picture.

Your Amazon list price.

Referral applies to buyer-paid shipping as well.

Amazon held referral rates steady for 2026.

The $39.99/mo Professional fee is not included here.

How it was calculated

  1. Buyer total: $49.99 + $0.00 = $49.99.
  2. Referral: 15% × $49.99 = $7.50; plan fee $0.99.
  3. Total Amazon fees: $8.49. Net before your costs: $41.50.

How it works

Total Amazon seller fees (no FBA) = referral % × (price + buyer shipping) + $0.99 per item on the Individual plan.

The referral percentage is set by category — 8% electronics, 15% most categories, 17% clothing, 20% jewelry — and always applies to the shipping you charge.

On the Professional plan the per-item fee is $0, but the $39.99 monthly subscription is a separate fixed cost, not part of this per-sale math.

FBM sellers then subtract their own pick/pack labor, packaging, and postage from the “you receive” figure to get true profit.

Worked examples

$49.99 item, 15% referral, Individual plan

Referral = 15% × $49.99 = $7.50, plus $0.99 plan fee = $8.49 total. You receive $41.50 before your own fulfillment costs — an effective rate of 17.0%.

$120 clothing item with $6.99 shipping, Professional

Buyer total = $126.99. Referral = 17% × $126.99 = $21.59, plan fee $0. Total = $21.59, you receive $105.40 (17.0% effective) before postage and handling.

How to measure

  • Confirm your category’s referral rate in Seller Central — subcategories can differ from the headline rate.
  • If you charge shipping, include it: referral on a $6.99 shipping charge at 15% is another $1.05.
  • Compare the $0.99/item Individual fee against $39.99/mo: above ~40 units a month, Professional is cheaper.
  • Use this for FBM decisions, then add your real postage and packaging to reach profit.
  • Re-check referral rates each January — Amazon announces the year’s schedule in Q4.

Assumptions & limitations

Frequently asked questions

The referral fee (8–20% by category, on price plus buyer-paid shipping) and, on the Individual plan, $0.99 per item sold. There are no fulfillment or storage fees because you ship yourself — but you bear the full cost of pick, pack, packaging, and postage. This calculator shows Amazon’s cut; your logistics costs sit on top.

Amazon’s own fees are identical either way — referral plus plan fee. The difference is who pays for logistics: FBA charges its fulfillment + storage stack, while FBM costs whatever your warehouse and carrier rates are. FBM usually wins for heavy, bulky, or slow-moving items where FBA storage and dimensional weight hurt.

Yes — the referral percentage applies to the total amount the buyer pays, including shipping charges and gift wrap. Only the $0.99 Individual per-item fee is flat. If you charge $6.99 shipping on a 15% category, that is an extra $1.05 in referral fees.

At roughly 40 units per month: $39.99 ÷ $0.99 ≈ 40.4. Beyond that the flat subscription beats the per-item fee, and Professional adds Buy Box eligibility advantages, bulk listing tools, and promotions that Individual lacks. Most sellers doing real volume are on Professional.
